The Scriptures are the foundation for our Church Constitution, mission statements, policies & procedures, and the bases for all that we do, so the exposition of the Word of God is paramount; in fact, it is our strong suit.
We recently celebrated our 25th Anniversary, and we have been at our present location for over 25 years, but what we most want you to know about us is that we care about you!
Our mission is to glorify God by developing spiritually mature Christians (disciples) to be a light in a world of darkness. (Matt. 5:14,15; 28:19,20)
Our vision is to glorify God by: conducting a Church in accordance with the Word of God, the Doctrinal Statement, and the Constitution of this Church, promoting the worship of our God, edifying believers, teaching the whole counsel of God, administering the ordinances and Biblical discipline, seeking to win the lost to Christ through personal witnessing and the preaching of the gospel, carrying on a vigorous missionary program around the world, establishing other Churches, and maintaining a good testimony for Christ in our community by righteous living and good works.
In the year 30 A.D., in the city of Jerusalem, on the day of Pentecost, the Church began with the coming of the Holy Spirit, which was prophesied to give us power to be witnesses of the “good news” of Jesus Christ—first in Jerusalem, then in all Judea and Samaria, and finally to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). The Church (including ours) started that day, with over 3,000 souls (Acts 2:41).
On January 5, 1992, the Holy Spirit led a small group of individuals (19) to leave Second Lakeview Baptist Church, to begin a local assembly by the name of Straightway Bible Fellowship. Our first worship service was held at 11821 Chesterfield, in Cleveland, Ohio.
March 27, 1992 was the first official business meeting where we resolved to be a Non-denominational, New Testament Church, and Rev. Elijah J. Span was called to be our first pastor. Subsequently we began our search for a more permanent Church Home. On June 21, 1992, we held our first Sunday Worship Service in our new home at 2392 Noble Road (where we currently serve)—thanks to the generosity of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and Pastor Randall Tonn.
In 1993, under the laws of the state of Ohio, Straightway was incorporated as a non-profit organization receiving its 501 3C tax-exempt status, from the federal government.
The pure existence of Straightway Bible Fellowship is based on the fact that, we care about you!
